Omega Seamaster De Ville, an early “waterproof” watch, with automatic movement and date, in 14k goldThe forerunner of Omega was founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt, who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He sold his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt’s death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and César, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Biel, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December.

Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Biel, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand’s marketing success.Louis-Paul and César Brandt both died in 1903, leaving one of Switzerland’s largest watch companies — with 240,000 watches produced annually and employing 800 people — in the hands of four young people, the oldest of whom, Paul-Emile Brandt, was not yet 24. Brandt was the great architect and builder of Omega. His influence would be felt over the next half-century.

The economic difficulties brought on by the First World War would lead him to work actively from 1925 toward the union of Omega and Tissot, then to their merger in 1930 within the group SSIH, Geneva. Under his leadership, and from 1955 that of Joseph Reiser, the SSIH Group continued to grow and multiply, absorbing or creating some fifty companies. By the seventies, SSIH had become Switzerland’s number one producer of finished watches and number three in the world.Weakened by the severe monetary crisis and recession of 1975 to 1980, SSIH was bailed out by the banks in 1981. During this period, Seiko expressed interest in acquiring Omega, but nothing came out of the talks. Switzerland’s other watchmaking giant Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie AG (ASUAG), principal manufacturer of ébauches (unfinished movements produced for a range of other Swiss watch assemblers) and owner of the Longines and Rado watch brands, was similarly saved a year later.

After drastic financial cleansing and a restructuring of the two groups’ R&D and production operations at the ETA complex in Granges, the two giants merged in 1983 to form the Holding ASUAG-SSIH. In 1985 the holding company was taken over by a group of private investors under the strategy and leadership of Nicolas Hayek. Immediately renamed SMH, Société suisse de Microélectronique et d’Horlogerie, the new group achieved rapid growth and success to become today’s top watch producer in the world. Named Swatch Group in 1998, it now includes Blancpain and Breguet. Omega remains one of its most prestigious brands.now, more than 10 brands replicas omega watches design, because it is on the top of watches fashion.it become more brands copy object.i think it is the charm of omega.

Selecting the Right Pearl Necklaces

Patrick Cavanaugh Said:

Pearl necklaces are in high demand due to the quality of them and the way they look. This isn’t the type of jewelry that is going to lose its appeal a short time after you purchase it. They never go out of style either so you can be confident you will always look great in them. Selecting the right pearl necklaces to add to your collection is important though. You want to be happy with them each time you go to put them on.

There are quite a few different lengths to choose from with pearl necklaces. If you want to accent the length of your neck then go with one that is longer. If you feel you have a long neck though and want to minimize it go with pearl necklaces that are closer to your neck.

Collar pearl necklaces are generally from 10 to 13 inches in length. They are often worn for going out at night but some women like to wear them during the day as well. They often have several strands on top of each other for a very nice overall appearance. If you don’t like something that close to your neck a choker may be a better option. These are looser even though they are still close to the neck. Generally the length is from 16 to 18 inches.

The most common length of pearl necklace is known as the princess. This is from 17 to 20 inches in length. They work well for a casual night out but one where you want to look nice. They also work great for any formal occasion. The longest pearl necklaces are the opera with a length of 28 to 34 inches. It is customary for them to reach below the bust line.

Having several different necklace pearl items around can allow you to change your look. Don’t underestimate how the size of the pearls as well as the length of a pearl necklace can do so. You can feel great about how you look when you wear a pearl necklace because they are a good match for any occasion. They are also a universal type of item that a person can wear no matter how old they are.

Big Brand Watches

David Fox Said:

Brand watches have become really popular in the last few years.  This is because buying into a brand has many benefits and consumers are becoming more experienced in their buying habits.  Consumers are buying big brand watches because of five main reasons.

The first reason is that brand watches are extremely reliable.  This is extremely important as past experience highlights whether or not a brand is reliable.  If the watch is reliable, consumers will buy into that brand time and time again, and therefore the most reliable watch brands always do well as a result.

The second reason comes down to how much the brand is regarded by consumers.  There are hundreds of different brands on the market but only a select few that consumers know and trust and continually buy at.  This is because they regard these brands very highly and when consumers look to buy a new watch for example, they are more likely to buy from a brand they highly regard.

The third reason consumers buy brand watches is because they are known to be very robust.  This is a really important feature when buying almost any product on the market as people like products to last as long as possible.  When consumers are buying a product of a certain nature, either a higher priced product or one that they wouldn’t buy very often, the importance of a product being robust is even more important.  So when consumers buy into brand watches, they know that they are really getting their money’s worth as these brand watches are almost definitely going to last for a very very long time.

The fourth reason why consumers buy brand watches is because of the design of the watches.  The design teams that work for big brands tend to be the very best and an awful lot of work goes into designing each and every watch.  This means that each and every watch is designed extremely well.  As a result, consumers find these watches straight away because they are the most eye-catching and therefore these brand watches are always the most likely to sell.

The fifth reason why consumers buy into brand watches is linked to the image of the watch.  Some of the bigger brands like to link their watches to celebrities.  Consumers who are very much in touch with the whole celebrity shindig pick up on this and like to be associated with this too.  They therefore tend to buy premium brand watches and are very happy in doing so.

This article explains why buying brand watches has become big the last few years.  Everything points to buying a brand watch and consumers will more than likely keep this trend going in the future.
